WHAT TO EXPECT

When you are visiting any church for the first time, the unknown may tend to make you somewhat nervous.

We want your first visit to First Baptist Maddoxtown to be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to feel the presence and love of God as you hear the Word of God!. You may find the following information to be helpful as you plan for your visit.

WHERE DO I GO?

When you arrive feel free to park anywhere in our lot and enter the sanctuary through the front door.  There are spaces reserved in the front for Senior citizens.   Sunday School starts at 9:00 a.m.

The morning worship service begins at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Your children will remain with you for the entire worship service.

WHAT ARE YOUR HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS?

Health and safety of all in attendance is of primary concern to us. We adhere to CDC, state, local and our own membership health status to determine our safety practices related to health threats.  At this time masks are not required, but encouraged if anyone would feel better wearing one.  All in attendance should be respectful to those who choose to wear or not to wear a mask. We will continue to monitor temperatures and have attendees sign in to allow quick notification should a health threat arise from attendance at a particular time.

Prior to entering the sanctuary:

  • If you have been diagnosed with COVID19 or have any of the following symptoms, please do not attempt to come. These symptoms may be a sign of COVID infection, but could also mean you have a different illness. Call your primary care provider if you have questions or think you were in contact with someone who had COVID.

    • fever or chills (temperature of 100 or higher)

    • cough

    • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

    • fatigue

    • muscle or body aches

    • headache

    • new loss of taste or smell

    • sore throat

    • congestion or runny nose

    • diarrhea

    • nausea or vomiting

  • Upon arrival, take your temperature by scanning your forehead or wrist on the temperature scanner in the vestibule. Then, sign your name and record the temperature on the sign-in sheet provided.  If you have a temperature of 100 degrees or greater you should leave the building and not enter the sanctuary.

  • When service is over, we ask that everyone pick up any items brought or used during service, such as Kleenex, wrappers, etc., and throw them away on your way out.  We all like to greet one another and socialize after service,  but we ask that everyone exit immediately to the parking lot so that the building can be sanitized.

  • Only the sanctuary and restroom areas will be accessible.  There will be no congregating in the back.  The basement will be off-limits.

  • We will enter and exit through our front doors only. The back and basement doors will only be used in case of emergency.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

There is not a strict dress code at First Baptist Maddoxtown. As a guide, many of our church members dress in a more traditional “Sunday-Best” style of dress. Typically the men wear a suit or nice dress shirt with or without a neck tie and a pair of nice dress slacks. The women wear modest apparel appropriate for worship in God’s house.  The youth often dress casual, leaning toward the modest side of the styles of their generation.  However, our main goal is that you feel welcome and comfortable during your visit.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE WORSHIP SERVICE?

Formal Welcome

When you enter the sanctuary, you will be presented with a visitor card to complete. Pastor Travis will announce your first time visit and ask if there are other first-time visitors.  At this time, if you choose, stand to be recognized, introduce yourself and/or your family, and say a few words if you wish.  You will then sit, while First Baptist Maddoxtown members sing a song of welcome to you.

Prayer

We are a church that believes in prayer. Throughout the service, prayers will be rendered that deal with the needs and requests of our church family and friends, while others address events happening in the nation and world or simply praise and thank God for His goodness and faithfulness.

Music

You will hear sound, spiritual music from our choir that supports the gospel.  You are welcome to sing along if you know the songs.

Preaching

We consider the preaching and teaching of the Word of God to be the most important part of the service. We believe that the best help you can get comes from the instruction you receive from the Word of God.

Offering

In the back of the sanctuary we have envelopes and a collection box where our members have opportunity to give an offering to the Lord as they enter or leave the sanctuary. Another option is to simply give the offering envelope to an usher who will put it in the box.  You are welcome to participate in the offering but we do not expect your participation.  We hope you will find in our church a warm family , truth from God’s Word, and a home where you feel you can grow in God’s grace. Please do not feel obligated to participate in the offering as a guest.

Live Streaming:

  • Services are streamed live, recorded and posted on our Facebook page and our website. Conversation and movement must be limited during this time to eliminate excess noise picked up by the microphones. In-person attendees should be aware that you may possibly be seen by anyone watching during the live service or the posted recordings.

  • Post a greeting to let us now you are online with us.  We love knowing you are there!
